This lamp table is built on an early 20th-century Singer treadle sewing machine base. The base was fully disassembled, stripped to bare metal, repaired, primed, and refinished before being brought back together piece by piece. Even the Pittman arm was replaced with an original part so the treadle works as it should, ready for curious hands and feet once again.
The top is crafted from Medina Mesquite, a Texas hardwood chosen for its strength, warmth, and natural character. The surface is finished by hand to highlight the wood’s grain and provide a durable, everyday-use finish without masking what makes the wood unique.
Today, the base serves a new purpose—no longer driving a sewing machine, but continuing its story as a functional piece of furniture.
